Goodwill of Coastal Georgia

 

 

Metro welcomed Michael Winkler, President and CEO of Goodwill of Coastal GA - and more importantly Patton and Robert's neighbor and a fellow rotarian - as well as Tom Cardiff, Develpment Officer as our speaker last week. Michael lived in Virginia before moving to Savannah two years ago to take this job. Goodwill serves those facing disability, unemployment and poverty through their work force development programs. Goodwill is best known for their retail locations which serve as recycling centers for unwanted household items and provide opportunities to teach their employees job skills, but they also have contracts to provide janitorial, staffing and manufaturing services. Each unit is run as its own business which allows the non profit to be 98% self sustaining.
