Michael McLeod gave an update on our global grant project. Global grants are the way rotary clubs join together to fund service projects with other clubs. When we give money to the Rotary Foundation we get a portion back to fund global grants we choose to support. Grants are thoroughly vetted by RI and focus on one of Rotary's six areas of focus

Peace and Conflict Resolution
Growing Local Economies
Education
Clean Water and Sanitation
Fighting Disease
Saving Mothers and Children

We've invested $500 is a grant project that will outfit a medical bus in Bahia Brazil. The total cost of the project is $69,000 which has been donated by several clubs, including some in Macon and Fitzgerald, GA. In the Bahia area, where 50% of the population live in poverty, health care is hard to come by. The bus will be outfitted to for neonatal care and pediatric respiratory issues. Rotary notes the medical bus as one of 20 notable grants in this recent article. We're excited to be part of the project and learn more about how the grants process works.
