Join us for Metro Monday at Emmaus House at Union Mission's Resource Center! For safety and ServSafe recommendations, please wear pants, sleeved shirt and close-toed shoes. Our recurring monthly service project to assist with the soup kitchen at Emmaus House will be the 2nd Monday of each month. This service project is for adult volunteers. Minors 13 and up can volunteer accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Metro reserves this slot every month, so there is no need to register on their website, but make sure you register here so your attendance is counted. You will drive into the gated parking lot and enter the building through the blue door on the side by the wooden gate. You'll find yourself in the volunteer break room where you can store your personal items and access the volunteer bathroom. Exit into the main dining room and turn left to find the kitchen. Just let them know you are there to volunteer and you will be shown what to do. Volunteer guidelines: https://unitedministriessavannah.org/volunteer-guidelines |

ALL HANDS ON DECK! We need 20 volunteers (bring your kids, bring your wife, bring your husbands, too) to help us pack up and organize the diapers, food, clothing, and other items that Shelter from the Rain gives out over the next few months. Don't let the 3 hour time limit scare you away. Bring your metro spirit because as soon as the last bag is packed and the area is cleared, we'll be done! Be ready for a big group photo in your Metro T-Shirt. Text Ruth Hutson at 512-657-7697 with any questions. |

This recurring Wednesday lunchtime volunteer opportunity is with our Annual Service Partner, Shelter from the Rain. Spend your lunch break with a couple of Metro pals and hand out diaper and pantry supplies to area moms in need. While you're there, plan to fill out cards of encouragement and help with organizational tasks. Children 6 and up are welcome to come along so long as they remain under adult supervision. You will need to complete a background check in order to participate. Use the link below to order your report. You'll follow the basic steps and the background check paperwork will be emailed directly to you. The process takes only a few minutes and can be done on the day of your volunteer work if necessary (although not ideal). Send the verification to Megan Lipsey at megan@shelterfromtherain.com prior to arriving at The Front Porch. This background check will be good for a full year from the date that you order it. No need to re-submit for future volunteer events with SFTR! Metro Rotary will reimburse you for the $19.95 cost of the background check. Simply email your receipt to Jasmine Mills at jmills.metrosav@gmail.com. |

The Savannah Theatre's Holiday show will be shortened for the fundraiser event hosted by Shelter from the Rain. Metro volunteers will act as ticket takers, set-up crew, popcorn handouts, and any other needs that come up in the quick changeover between the matinee and their evening event. Pull out those ugly holiday sweaters and pose for the cameras! Yes...there will be a prize for the volunteer with the most holiday spirit. There are two registration options. If you would like to stay and enjoy the performance, please also sign up for the cleanup volunteer slot after the show. It should only take 30 minutes or so to take items to the cars of board members and staff. No popcorn sweeping or trash hauling required. |

Sign up for an individual time slot with Read United Day 2027. Read United Day is the flagship initiative of Read United, reaching students in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, Liberty, and Long counties to promote literacy and a lifelong love of reading. Nearly 1,000 United Way volunteers visit classrooms to read aloud and leave behind a new book for each class. In Bryan, Effingham, Liberty, and Long counties, every pre-K through 2nd-grade student also receives a new book to take home, helping to close the gap for children who may not have books at home. In Chatham County, United Way will continue our pilot reading competition with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, designed to motivate and reward students for reading more books. Read United Day 2026 will benefit more than 20,000 children across our region—and your support makes it possible. Steps to Sign-up for Read United Day 2026
