Please join us at the JEA and welcome guest speaker Maryann Brickey

Maryann Brickey, MLIS, is a Children’s Librarian and Senior Community Library Manager with Live Oak Public Libraries in Savannah, Georgia where she lives with her rescue dog Dolly Parton. A native of St. Louis, Maryann took a leap of faith when she moved to Savannah six years ago. She began her career here as the Children’s Librarian at the Garden City Library, and she has since served as the Children's Librarian and Branch Manager for the Pooler Library. She is currently the Senior Community Library Manager of the Southwest Chatham Library and works with library patrons to provide a wide range of programs and services. Originally a political science major at the University of Missouri thinking she would go on to attend law school, and after stints doing a variety of odd-jobs following undergrad (*ask her about her days as a butcher if you really want to hear some fun tales!), she found her passion and calling in library science at the University of Illinois. When her schedule permits, Maryann enjoys spending time outdoors, visiting with family and friends, antiquing, being a semi-adequate gardener, trying to teach herself new hobbies (sewing and playing the ukulele among her most recent), and - of course - reading. Passionate about early literacy, accessibility, community-building, and lifelong learning, she is a member of at least five separate book clubs and is always happy to talk to people about libraries and their next great read.
